As far as I'm concerned, I want to avoid using a knight at all. I want a centaur. A centaur doesn't have a horse's head. By definition.
Maybe for Kevin there is another solution: as for you it's a judge, maybe it's easier to find a representation.

If you mean that a KN represented by a knight topped with something (a crown, a cross, an helmet) is ignoring the name "centaur", I agree.
I had designed 2 pieces for KN (you can see on my recent page). One is a knight topped with a cross, another one is a bottom of knight, headless, with a greek warrior helmet. Only this second one is a centaur to my eyes.
I was looking at it, in my hands, few minutes ago. I really see a centaur when I look at it. Maybe you and others have a different opinion because you have seen a photo only. It doesn't matter. As long as I, I am seeing something like a centaur, as long as I can explain to any friend playing with me, it does the job.
If someone comes with another idea which I find better, I will update my design. I'm not stubborn. I did that for the archer. For long I thought it was impossible to have an archer design good enough. Until I found one and I changed my mind.
@Bob: I'm sure you won't stop there. I look forward for your Rasta Knight, Rasta Bishop (!), etc.

The Phoenix comes from shogi variants where it represents a Chinese mythical animal, the fenghuang. Its common representation is not that of a prey bird like in the Greek mythology but of a bird with elements of roaster and pheasant. This is a 3D-printable version:

But I am afraid to modify all other tables as you indicate. I have had a look at that, and indeed it is more complex than I thought. I'm not at ease at all with html code and I can get quickly lost with the different strings. It is really beyond my skills for the moment.

I've added a tail. I put the arm a bit upper (it was not a collar). I reworked the neck a little bit (I guess is what was taken for ... ears). How is it now?

OK Fergus I will try. I prefer also the result with flex tables. The fact is that I've made the page with those tables in wysiswg mode. I know it is limited but it is convenient for me. Thank you.
@Bn Em: I like that reference to the Lamassu. Some of the Afrasiab set, the oldest chess set known, have always made me think of that creature. Maybe I was inconsciently influenced :=)?
I will print this design in few weeks to see how it looks like in hands.
While trying to see the ID with my Android Phone, i just get a rectangle for the Berolina initial. I don t think that the diacritic letters are adding anything. I think they rebute the players. Using a two-letter system would be more attractive and efficient imo.

Hi, I would like to know who has invented this game? Is Cyril the inventor? Or is a game played in Japan beside shogi? Maybe some comments about this, some history or cultural facts, could be added to this page.

@HG: I thought I had understood, but finally I'm confused and lost. I try to describe Rhino (TwiKnight) (and Mirror-Rhino (KnightTwi)) in Betza's notation. I found z(FW) in an old page (made by Betza) but it doesn't work on the diagram. Maybe the role of the () has changed.
Also I don't understand why when I test zW and zR, I get the same result. Is z meaning an infinite repetition?
Is all this consistent?
@HG: somewhat it gives me some explanation, somewhat I'm more confused than before. So, HG, taking this "The meaning of z in a multi-leg move has also changed; it now means l or r, but the opposit of what the previous leg did. (So that it can be used to specify crooked paths)"; how would you write that Betza's Rhino and Mirror-Rhino?
@Haru N Y: your notations do work but I can't understand why. Indeed I belong to those not digesting the "a" at all. And why do you call the Mirror-Rhino a Snake? That confuses me even more too.
@Daniel, HG. Thank you for your kind explanations. I start to see better. I had not caught the fact that the "a" could link with a "none" modifier.
I understand the logic. I don't like it much though. It is strange that nothing more natural could have been imagined, without ambiguity, to chain simple moves. You guys have been thinking on it for a long time, so I guess it is not so easy.
@Daniel Z: The icons displayed on this page are of heterogeneous sizes.
Second point, would it possible to play with Alfaerie graphics? I don't like to use other graphics because it adds another difficulty which is not needed in my opinion.
@HG: I have a problem that I can't solve. In many of my variants I have a rule of King's leap to a 2nd square replacing castling. As for regular castling, the King may not leap when it is under check. It works fine for Metamachy, Zanzibar, Maasai, Terachess II, etc. But in Bigorra, the GC would let a CHECKED King leap to a 2nd-square! Actually, it marks the destination square as a possible move, but if the player does it (so, violating the real rule), the game ends with an error message saying the King has moved out of chess.
Why the Bigorra GC is behaving like that whereas Metamachy or Terachess II for example don't have this behaviour, I don't know. I would like to fix that bug in Bigorra GC but I don't know what to do.
I ask you because that GC had been made with the PTA from the ID. Could you please have a look on that GC?
