Armor Chess
All pieces have a piece of armor, which can face any of the 8 main directions of the chessboard. Pieces cannot be captured along the line in which their armor is facing.
Setup
At the start of the game, all pieces' armor face backwards.Rules
After moving a piece, the player may rotate it so that the armor faces any of the 8 main directions. The armor only protects: it does not restrict movement of the piece it is on. Knights are unaffected by armor.Notes
Played in-person, the armor can be represented by a strip of any handy material, covering roughly 90 degrees around a piece (a compromise between easy identification of the protected direction and easy viewing of the strip). By computer, this requires a new set of graphics. This 'user submitted' page is a collaboration between the posting user and the Chess Variant Pages.
