G.M. Hikaru Nakamura continues his meteoric ascense. His ELO has raised
2620 in the last official FIDE rank (Oct. 2004), but it is higher to the
present, let´s see the new rank to be released in January. This 16 years
old boy is the new U.S. Champion, and he has had impressive results in the
last months. Apart from being the new U.S.Champion, he has beated other
young prodigy, Sergei Karjakin, in the match played in Mexico this month.
The score: a contundent 4.5-1.5... Impresive, because Karjakin has had an
incredible performance in the last months too, including his brilliant
actuation in the Olympiads...


16-year Hikaru is US Champion
06.12.2004 Hikaru Nakamura, a teenage ace from White Plains, NY, beat Alex
Stripunsky for the US championship title and $25,000 in prize money. With
that Hikaru became the youngest winner of the 159-year-old title since
Bobby Fischer.
